The Cincinnati Police Department serves a population of over 300,000 residents. With the national focus on de-escalation methods and police training, the Cincinnati Police Academy saw an opportunity to better prepare its officers with training equipment designed to improve decision making in high-pressure situations.
After significant research on various police training simulators, the Cincinnati Police Academy chose to include the Apex Officer VR training simulator as a major component of its training program. The Apex Officer system is capable of simulating an infinite number of different training scenarios that can convey body language and other non-verbal threat cues that are a crucial part of progressive judgmental use of force training.
With the help of a generous donation from the Cincinnati Blue Line Foundation and Hatton Foundation, the Cincinnati Police Academy took a major leap forward in training technology and methods. Cincinnati Police Academy looks forward to continued use of the Apex Officer simulator, so they can continue to provide officers and academy recruits with valuable training opportunities and prepare them for the unexpected.
